How To Join

Primarily, if you are considering joining the team, please fill out our interest form. This enables us to get a good idea of how many incoming new members we may have and make accommodations as a result.

Information Sessions

In order to tryout for a spot on the team, you must attend the information sessions hosted on campus. We will have two information sessions, but you are only required to attend one before tryouts.

Two LitiGator team members holding the second place trophy they won at an FSU tournament During this information session you will learn about the LitiGators as a team, including how the team operates and what is expected of you during the tryout. You will also get a chance to meet and talk to many of our current members of the team as well as ask them any questions you may have.

This year’s info sessions will be hosted on August 28 and August 29 in the Pugh Hall Ocora from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm, however doors open at 6:40 pm. No registration is needed for attending the information session.

This sign up sheet will only be accessible during the information sessions discussed above (if you cannot make it for some reason but still wish to tryout, you can reach out to us as well).

For more information on dates and times of this event, please refer back to our website and follow the LitiGators Instagram as well as Facebook.

Tryout Information

This year’s round one tryouts will be September 1-6.

There are two rounds of tryouts: the first round of preliminary tryouts and the second set or “call back” set. The first round is open to all undergraduate students that have registered for a tryout slot. Then the second round of tryouts is only for those students who get notified to come back for what we refer to as a “call back” to see more of your performance. Those who do not make the second round of tryouts unfortunately do not make the team. And from those “call back” tryouts, we will determine who officially makes the team.

You may tryout as a witness, attorney, or both (we encourage trying out forSix team members hugging each other in front of the courthouse both regardless). Provided to you will be a condensed version of a case packet which will guide you in your material for the tryout. Attorneys must write and  perform an opening statement as well as a cross examination. Whereas witnesses will be direct and cross examined by one of our current members.

More information about what tryouts entail will be provided during the information sessions. If you unfamiliar with mock trial or any of the aforementioned, do not worry because we will help equip you with examples and resources during information sessions!

Also, we do host office hours for students that need help before their tryouts and we encourage you to use this resource. Information for this can be found on our social media platforms, the information sessions, and this website.
